RE: G-Experience Indonesia

Thank you for those great pictures!

What a great event hosted by MB of Indonesia.

I would love to see a similar event here in the USA, but apparently the G-wagen is not at the top of their list here.

Please post some more of your pictures.....

Karl

Re: G-Experience Indonesia

i'm afraid i don't have much more pics, we only experienced a short offroad course with the 300cdi pro, & some on-road run with the AMG.

erwin wonisch took us for some spins on the flat field, which would somewhat explain the last pic
he also demonstrated ESP's ability. unbelievable technology that one, might actually save lives, along with ABS etc. remember that prior to this, we were stuck with 300GEs which were sold until 1998. so these were all new to us (on a G). i think because of the prices, we'll continue to be stuck for a very long time

Do you know what year this AMG was?

It shows the European Oris type trailer hitch, but still features the "older" version fuel tank protection plate - unlike the heavy duty plates found on the G550 and G55's starting in 2009 (?) here in the US. With that different "rear skid plate" MB omitted the trailer hitch provisions on these late type G-wagen.

Re: G-Experience Indonesia

hmm.. i didn't bother to check.
i may be going back again today, if i do, i'll make sure i get the VIN code
i'd imagine it couldn't be any older than last year's production though

here' a short video of what erwin was doing with us as his passengers in the grass field

VIN: WDB4632702X190736

according to martin breuninger from MB offroad division germany, the european AMGs still has the tow hitch available, only in the USA it is not available, quite possibly because of some government safety regulation

he also told me RHD G550/500 is starting production next year. so, all complete line-up will be available in RHD version.
another thing that may interest a lot of people is that teh new engine for the AMG is definitely coming, maybe as soon as the end of next year.
4.4L twin turbo, completely new engine
