Hi, Did some searching and cant really find any info . I have Mercedes 1987 300GD non turbo with OM617.931, manual 5 speed . Im looking for any istructions, possiblity of installing cruise control to this pedal line control acelerator diesel engine. How hard this would be? is it safe ? does it require tearing steering column apart ? what parts would i need ? appreciate any info .J

Warren is in Montreal and has a factory MB cruise control on his 460 G-wagen. I don't know if G's came with cruise control, but I think Warren installed it when he put the turbodiesel motor from a sedan in his truck. I'm pretty sure it can be done using the factory systems from the sedans. One caveat may be that it may interact with the automatic transmisison somehow and as such may not be doable with a manual trans. But I'm way out of my element here and have no idea what I'm talking about. Definitely talk to Warren. -Dave G.

Electric not vacuum actuator .Original mercedes actuator is vacuum operated.

Interesting. The actuator I have here (OE on an '84 300SD) has no vacuum connections at all, only an electrical plug. But I'm way out of my element, see above. All the best, -Dave G.

Can someone with a factory om617 cruise control setup share some pics how the throttle linkage and actuator are positioned? My mechanic put it in when he did the change to a to a 617A. He said it was real easy with a donor car for parts. He said that every thing is there for the acc and brake switches even the wiring. We still have not figured out how to put a switch on the clutch so when you step on the clutch with the cruse on it does not disconnect. I have not used it much but it seem to work. Don't know how it will work in the mountains. Tell me what specific pictures you need without taking it apart W

If you have a donor car for parts, it can be all switched over to the G. There is a safety factor involved so I suggest you have a wiring diagram for the sedan and understand how the system works. It can be used on a manual transmission if you use the same type of switch that is on the brake pedal on the clutch pedal. Warren

Resurrecting this thread again. I have a 300GD with a swapped super turbo diesel (617a with Goran's super pump: https://clubgwagen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=14758&hilit=update) and I'm fitting the factory VDO cruise control system from the donor 300D. After a lot of research the are a couple of things I still need to sort out: -What speed sensor was used for the CC amp on a W460 set-up? If I understand correctly there was originally one located on the back of the speedometer on the W123? Could another sensor/source be used in it's place? -Where/how should the factory CC wiring harness "tie-in" to the W460 for power? I have resoldered and installed the CC amp, installed the servo as well as all of the throttle linkage and a new speedometer cable (to eliminate a little needle flop) and CC lever on the steering column. I've also had the factory W460 speedometer recently serviced by a VDO shop. I still need to install the wiring harness (sourced), brake cut-out switch (I think I've sourced) and speed sensor (not sourced.) Any tribal knowledge or guidance is greatly appreciated. Warren, if you still hang out on P3 and don't mind the trouble any pictures or notes on your set-up is very much appreciate... thank you.
