What are your thaughts I have a G63 and I had a 2003. The 63 handles and rides better. But I doubt it is just shocks. I would assume there is other upgraded suspension parts that make it all work together. 63 shocks may make a 500 unpredictable.

What are your thaughts why would you want a rougher ride? especially in Montreal where they pave the roads about as well as any third world country? you should have just bought new stock shocks or softer ones. AMG shocks are not for Montreal roads Edited by amg463 4/12/2018 1:38 AM

I have read of many users switching from G55 springs and shocks, you have to do the combination, to G500 or other higher riding, softer riding setups to reduce dental costs. Call THOR, I imagine he has some experience. http://vikingoffroad.com/g-class-suspension/ Edited by Aircruiser 4/13/2018 9:57 AM

What are your thaughts Those are "bump stops" used to slow down the damper travel towards the end of its stroke, before the rod/piston completely bottoms out within the damper body. With data and testing, bump stops can be changed/tweeked, like other components, but in a non-motorsports damper they should not be removed entirely. I would not install the dampers without them!

What are your thaughts They are amgs sneaky way of adding spring rate when an unsuspecting enthusiast puts some lean on the pavement on the G Of the road and with a small lift one can feel them creating contact and added control from the extra spring rate With stock G63 front springs those little cilastios are at contact at normal ride height and work all the time. The G needs a lot of spring up front for control and that is why they are there Off road enough with them and they will melt......and cause failure of the shock chewing the shock body of the metal cover. Yes you can drive with out them without any damage to the shocks and do get a more comfy ride as long as you do not try to make a sports car out of your G63 My G55k had them also but now with white front springs and soft brown rears I have the control for a sporty drive both on and off road I think proper rate springs is the most improvement the G can have after market and only then good shocks are worth having Mario Edited by 512bbi 4/27/2018 2:25 AM

What are your thaughts Late to the discussion! I drive a 2012 G350 CDI BlueTec SWB. I really hated how vague the G steered at high way speeds, combined with in my view excessive body roll when cornering. I installed the G63 shocks and for me the ride improved massively. Much more controlled steering and handling and significantly less body roll when cornering. As the G63 shocks are based on the Bilstein B6 4600 platform, they provide a heavy duty off-road up grade as well. In my experience the G63 shocks are not more harsh then the stock shocks that I replaced. (no lift, OEM springs, engine tuned at 275 HP/600 Nm). Thanks for all the great discussions on P3! I am learning a lot here. Raymond. Edited by rjfcreemers 9/10/2020 12:15 PM
