When trying to put it back together I have found the lower king pin bearings are larger than the top ones. The kit supplied for the overhaul supplied 4 smaller bearing which are fitted to the top but none of the larger lower ones. The issue now is I can’t just just go to a bearing shop and get a couple of Timken LM12710s as I have installed the inner sealing cups and outer races into the housing and when removing them the inner sealing caps they cannot be reused after you knock them out as they distort, when you knockout the outer races and cups from the housing, and if they are reused distorted it will effect the preload on the king pins. Sadly in Dubai we also in full lockdown for Covid-19 and no bearing suppliers or Mercedes dealers are open during the lockdown. Before I start souring elsewhere can someone pls confirm if this is normal for my vehicle or an error by the supplier. My front axle is also a little more unusual than most as it came factory fitted with a re-inforced front axle as fitted to an armoured G class which may explain why I possibly have larger lower bearings than most others. For ref the VIN is WDB4632411X117425 https://photos.smugmug.com/Off-Road/G-Wagon/i-vk3Jpnp/0/D/i-vk3Jpnp-... | ||
