It is relatively easy to wrap with and chewing aluminum is it's own penalty.

I live out in the wild and what has worked for me is using mechanical traps baited with peanut butter. 3 traps around each tire - front, back and side. If the mice traps go missing, that means the mice could be BigFM or rats. If they are rats or BFM, then I put the green poison blocks on a wire placed in the engine bay where the tracks are. Then I swap the mice traps for rat traps and use different bait (like poison) because they are much smarter and have learned peanut butter is dangerous. The idea is to trap them before they get in. But rats (especially pregnant ones) usually go for the poison and are looking to nest and don't bother with peanut butter. But with a dog, they could eat a dead rat that was feeding on the bait so I wouldn't know what bait to suggest to prevent another wire feast other than peanut butter.
