I have been having this squeaking problem (only on start up) coming from the engine area for the past month or so. Both the main and Kompressor belts have been changed and supposedly adjusted. It is still occurring. The dealer just replaced the Kompressor pully and it still squeaks. This morning I opened the hood and noticed something new. There is oil all over (but limited to) the area around the oil cap. I just had my "B" service done and the engine was clean prior to that. Here are some pictures. Any thoughts would be apreciated. Cheers, Damon (IMG_0330.JPG) (IMG_0332.JPG) (IMG_0324.JPG) Attachments ---------------- IMG_0330.JPG (195KB - 8 downloads) IMG_0332.JPG (168KB - 8 downloads) IMG_0324.JPG (141KB - 8 downloads)

Are you planing to join us in September?

Hi Dutch, My main concern is if it is not related to a sloppy job. With a standard "B" service, would there be any reason to disassemble anything that might result in this type of leakage. Either way, it comes back to a sloppy job. As for September, I can't wait... Damon

As it turns out, oil IS seeping out at the base of the piece that the oil cap inserts into. Basically where the plastic meets the metal. I am being told that the seal that mates the two parts is either damaged or missing. I don't think that this is a factory problem because I surely would have noticed it before. I also make it a habit to leave the temperature gage up when driving in the heat or pushing the engine. This problem would have definitely reared its head last spring in Moab. 1) Does any one have a drawing of the oil cap assembly (05 G55K)? 2) Would there be any reason to remove this assembly to complete a "B" service? Thanks, Damon

I would drop it off to them, tell them to replace the broken part, and tell them to clean up thier mess. When they told you that the seal was missing or broken, I would have told them to get the ball rolling and order the part already.

Thanks, Damon 1) The Oil cap and gasket look like they are the same for the G500 and G55 the gasket is #53 A111 018 00 80 and the cap is #47 A111 018 03 02 2) I cant see why - could it fall off? is it leaking at the cap or under the filler neck? Turning the model code filter off on the epc gives #41 A111 018 008 same as #53 and #35 A112 101 00 64 Oil filler neck (no model info tho) Infact looking at the epc A111 018 008 is the gasket for a hell of a lot of oilcaps as is the oil cap itself - they are the same on my 280ge Edited by Ernest T Bass 7/27/2006 8:50 AM (oilcap.jpg) Attachments ---------------- oilcap.jpg (27KB - 9 downloads)

Parts are in and I have told them that I want the old ones. I still think that this is somehow related to The "B" servise that they just performed.

It is leaking under the filler neck. The cap seems fine. Damon Edited by Mopagi 7/27/2006 12:30 PM
