| G350DT engine rebuild Issues
Just a copy of what I posted in the G forum for anyone with a 350 or 300 newley rebuilt engine
Looks like the probable cause has been found. We will not know for sure till the head is removed next week but all roads lead to one place.
When starting a brand new Diesel engine it is VERY and I say again VERY important to make sure that you have full oil pressure before EVER installing
the injectors. There is a known failure if this is not done, the signs of the failure due to this are: Rough idol, oil blow by, #1 cylinder tapping when started,
eventual head gaskit failure on #1 cylinder and some smoking.
I am not 100% understanding the failure other then the signs of it and the cause.
In any event next week the head comes off and all will be known.
By the way from day one this has meant that the engine has been running on only 5 cylinders thus the rough idoling. I can not wait to see what another cylinder adds to the pickup.
Maybe 0 to 60 in 50 seconds and not 60 ha. |
