A rock cracked my original lens so it gave me a reason to upgrade to brighter HIDs. I ordered some Depo lamps from Fishcake. I installed them and the ballasts gave me errors. The seller replaced them with higher quality canbus ballasts and my lamps slightly flickered and gave me an error when I use the high beams. I ended up researching the types of available ballasts and ordered a set of Hylux ballasts with ASIC controller chips. They work beautifully and have been solid for over a year now. My lights are super bright and stable so I want to share my setup with anyone here that is thinking about upgrading. I hope this will save you some time.
1.a pair of Depo projector lamp housings 2. a pair of Hylux 35W ASIC CAN_BUS ballasts. (My ballasts have little windows showing the ASIC chip) 3. a pair of 4300Kelvin H7 HID bulbs. I tried 5000K and they suck at illuminating the road and has a slight blue tint. Stick with 4300K. Trust me. 4. a pair of wedge bulbs (I chose PIAA 3700K bulbs) I couldn't find bulbs in 4300K at the time. I have been using the ones that came with my Hylux ballasts. I have read that HID bulbs made by CN-lights and Morimoto are really good. I'll replace mine when they go out. I used double stick tape and zip ties to strap the ballast and wiring to the housing before installing them. Test them before screwing them in. Check for errors and flickering. If everything checks out, screw them in and aim the headlights. You should have some of the brightest beams on the road now. Let me know if you have any questions for me. I will adding pics later.

And hopefully, you have them aimed low enough so as to not blind oncoming drivers. Keep in mind that the factory HID's have sensors on the truck's suspension system to keep the lights leveled and properly aimed, no matter what the load.

JW Speaker? Recently I've been doing a lot of research on headlight upgrades for my G500 which still has the DOTs. The HID conversion is tempting but it seems like the leveling system retrofit is necessary to maintain good coverage without blinding other drivers. I'm curious to hear if the OP has people honking at him.

JW Speaker? Yes. If you have the US DOT buckets used by most Federalizers, the JW Speaker lights are a direct drop in.

No I have them aimed well and have never had any complaints from others. Most of the times the cutoff is way below other car's side mirrors. My wife was driving our G following me and I noticed that I get very little glare compared to other cars on the road. It throws down a bright beam on the road which is what I want. I just ordered projectors for my fogs. I'll see how 2500k osram halogens do with them. I don't think I need to run HIDs for fogs.

I sent the kit back and opted for an inexpensive, simple and more effective solution: LED bulbs. They took all of 15 minutes to install. My problem is high beam not working properly.(when switching from high to low beat it blinks for moment). It is necessary to change front SAM model with newer one. A4635401550 but it is too expensive.

I'm trying to source the adjuster... for the bottom (lower left hand side of the bulb if you're looking at it head on).

Now I am very satisfied with my real xenon lights not china H7 HID...May be they light better than original Mercedes G (HELLA) D1S lights (FA7B17C6-D967-49D3-96CD-6C720A6DE4F4.JPG) (F5775850-353E-463E-913D-FB2438287581.JPG) (EA41FAA5-D21F-429B-AF6F-9EB146030690.JPG) (7E27EB91-43E8-494C-8000-74880B8ECBF2.JPG) (FA7B17C6-D967-49D3-96CD-6C720A6DE4F4.JPG) Attachments ---------------- FA7B17C6-D967-49D3-96CD-6C720A6DE4F4.JPG (362KB - 12 downloads) F5775850-353E-463E-913D-FB2438287581.JPG (308KB - 12 downloads) EA41FAA5-D21F-429B-AF6F-9EB146030690.JPG (321KB - 10 downloads) 7E27EB91-43E8-494C-8000-74880B8ECBF2.JPG (306KB - 15 downloads) FA7B17C6-D967-49D3-96CD-6C720A6DE4F4.JPG (362KB - 10 downloads)
