Braingears Expert Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: St Petersburg, FL Vehicle(s): G320 & ML320 Posts: 1450 | GL450 vs G-Wagon I test drove the GL450 for about half an hour this weekend.. Overall, I thought that it was a great vehicle. I was disappointed that they called it G-Anything.
Although I love the ride and feel of the new GL, I still think that it's a ML on steroids and does not deserve the "G" name. All of the bumpers are a cheap plastic. There is also no protection under the chassis. Personally, I do not believe that this vehicle could last 30 minutes in many of our off-road endeavors. You couldn't even find or attach to a recovery point. Most stock Jeeps are going to out perform this new GL on anything off-pavement. It's a great addition to the ML family, but does not deserve the "G" name. | ||

It's a 4-Matic (all wheel drive). There is no low gear to switch to. These are an optional package, at least in Europe where I live. Even with this package, I don't think it is a match for the G, but it may be better that RR. Christian | ||
