I've just been reading a thread on a German mercedes transporter forum. They think highly of adding 2-stroke oil at a ratio 1:200 to diesel fuel. Claming, less noise from the engine, higher fuel economy and no more blue exhaust at cold start-up. I sell 2-stroke oil for a living and I know the Stihl brand is a very easy burning oil and it has great lubing capacity. The newer Stihl 2-stroke oils even have a nice fuel stabiliser in the mix. Anyhow, I never thought of adding a gulp of Stihl 2 stroke oil to my trusted diesels. Every oil change the get a 300 ml dose of diesel additive though and that keeps them running nice and easy. Any thoughts??

I run Redline Diesel fuel catalyst and it doesn't take much to have an effect. I think it helps to lubricate the pump and injectors. That Stihl oil should be similar. I use it in our two stroke gas for our Stihl powered machines. Outstanding. It is pretty expensive here to be running as a diesel fuel additive. But it sounds like you might not have to pay retail to buy it. -Dai

Is is a common practice?
