The Drivetrain Slack - Both ends - in the Differential and in the Transmission. What's wrong with it? How to fix it? Picture worth 1000 words and the video even more. Please see my videos on youtube showing the problem. I will greatly appreciate any information about what is wrong and how to fix this problem. Thank you in advance... Seems like about the amount of play which my numerous vehicles have. What is the 'Problem' you are having?? Is it Drive-Train-Noise/Vibration/Thunking with Acceleration/Deceleration?? "IF" so... when was the last time you changed the Flex-Discs?? That would be 'my' first fix... "G"

At first glance, the flex-disks look normal, but when they are pushed with a crowbar, small cracks appear. I will definitely replace them, as well as the engine and transmission mounts. But I'm very concerned about the play/slack of the driveshaft in the differential (video where I am twisting it with my hand). I am filling it only when I shift from "P" to "D" or "R" and only when the car was driven for some time, not in the morning when I am going to drive it for the firs time. There is also a short squeak when shifting from "P" to "D" or "R", I don't know where it is coming from, I have to investigate it too... On the road it drives absolutely normal, with no vibrations, no noise, no jerks with Acceleration/Deceleration... But there is definitely something worn in the differential, it shouldn't have that play/slack...

I would change the Flex Discs (AND CARRIER BEARING!) , replace differential oil (checking for any metal shavings), If NONE? then not worry.. Drive happily! :^) Edited by G-AMG 5/16/2018 9:34 AM
