Bruce R. Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Castrol is good oil................. We don't have the "Edge" version here in the States. Is this a semi- synthetic oil, or a conventional oil? How often do you change it?

Bruce R. Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Thanks for the link............. As I mentioned "Edge" brand is not available here, and Castrol does not sell a fully synthetic oil in the States either. This is a fairly new development. Do you mind if I take your link to some of the other boards and ask a few questions?

Do you mind if I take your link to some of the other boards and ask a few questions? Bruce, what is SYNTEC? Its full synthetic? Unless you know something I don't........ I only use Mobil 1 in my benz. I "heard" (from a reliable source) that cars in CART and whatnot have mobil 1 in them regardless of their sponsor. Just regular people don't know this and its not publicized of course. And if thats true, that speaks volumes!!!

Bruce R. Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | As I understand it............. The last information I had was that Syntec was a conventional, synthetic blend. The API (American Petroleum Institute.) and the oil companies had a major go around about this a few years back and because the oil companies control the funds to the Institute, the Institute folded and agreed that a blend if over 50% synthetic could be called synthetic even though it's a blend..... There's a surprise ...... Anyway some of the fully synthetic oils that I am aware of are: Mobil 1, Amsoil, and RedLine. There are more, I'm sure of that, but the only major player is Mobil 1. By the way, Welcome aboard Silverslk.... ![]()
