| RE: My new 'Black' AMG Monoblocks I'm always looking on 'tradecarview' Here's one with a WALD body kit that I'd love on my car http://www.tradecarview.com/stock/detail.aspx?sid=586694 ...and I'm pretty sure this one is the one I posted above but it's now with a dealer http://www.tradecarview.com/stock/detail.aspx?sid=586696 Japan has thee best selection of these old things that I've ever seen I'm trying to get there by early December, if I can't make it then I'll go in Feb '08 It sucks that I can't take time of in the Summer holidays as were very busy at work at that time of year and being the boss and all, the whole company will collapse without me because I'm such an outstanding manager  I'll prob sell the 500 to pay for the trip, my friend is moving to Tokyo at the end of June to make movies so at least I'll have a pad to crash at Then I can look for one of these amazing cars to bring back for myself | ||

Till the end of the year you can easily get '94 up 140s into NZ. If it has a TDN number on the de-reg you can bring in 92 or 93 models. Believe it or not '91 W140 can't be bought into NZ because according to our lot it didn't meet frontal impact. WHATEVER.... What a bunch of BS, Well I guess my after uni goal of a black 1998 S600 will have to wait.... Unless....I import it and revin it as my 300SEL with a repaint and a V12 transplant...  | |

Did you know that the air flow meters are $3000.... EACH on the V12! Anyway, when's the next 126/107 (and maybe we'll let the 140 come he he he) gathering? We need to do a photoshoot. But get your driving gloves on as I want to shoot he cars in the alps... I like the S600 too much the stitched dash etc etc.  3k airflow meters which there are two of are just one of the risks you take.... | |

Those $3000 doo-hickeys confirm my resolve to NEVER own a W140. Aside from the fact that they are the most externally bland and boring looking Merc. ever made IMO (though the interiors are light years improvement on the 126), the other issues with them cross well over my enthusiast $ budget. I've had such a great run with my 560, but it's only time before expensive issues occur that will seriously challenge wallet priorities. I love your SL..... Having owned both 126 and 140 I'd say they both are great. Living down here away from my Merc mechanic I'd never own a 140 again. Awesome cars they are - no doubt. Money pits they are - no doubt. Great to drive they are - no doubt. Leaving you wondering if it is going to start on some days - no doubt. Mine was lowered 70mm with awesome springs, and a very very lound custom 3 inch exhaust system. Made Nomad's sound like a sewing machine in volume. Even had a supercharger linned up for it. In fact we even started to in stall it! But with moving away from my beloved Benz tool man, the 140 had to go. The chap that bought it reckons it was the best one he had driven - and he had been looking to buy one for a year. So the bottom line for me is give me a good 'ol 126 any day | |

The W140 is miles ahead of the W126 in handling and performance as well as ride comfort and I think the styling is still very modern even today, I've driven the W220 and it's better but not that much. The only thing that is a turn off for the W140 is the cost of maintaining one... | |
