Hey Hus,
The reservoir is from a '99 E300, same car the engine came from. He claims no issues at all with the oil pan and diff. It purs like a kitten and moves like a cheetah. It's pretty impressive. Fortunately they cleaned up a bunch of work done by the previous owner. Here's what it used to look like. I know, OMG! Nice job Jeff!!

Re: Pictures of your engine

Really nice. How does it perform? Was there a mounting issue that caused you to lean the engine at such an angle?

RE: The Maximum

What a nice project Peter!!! Much more interesting than all those G 55's, 63's, Brabus 12 cylinders or whatsoever...

The performance are great .. (topspeed is now + - 160 km/h (100M/h)

The only mounting issue was the exhaust
The original engine has an exhaust spaghetti.
what does not fit around the strut.
that we have made themselves.

RE: Pictures of your engine

Hi Steve,

that's one nice engine! This OM 617A looks better than new. I've got a 1980 W116 with the same engine which I would like to have like yours. What did you do to make it look so shiny?

RE: Pictures of your engine

That one isn't mine. Belongs to one of our West Coast brothers who doesn't do the forum chat thing. It's in a very sweet clean green cabrio in excellent shape. If you look at the Tahoe pics from 2009, you might find a shot of him in the mud.
His brother handed the valve cover over to the wheel guys at the shop and they buffed it out. Wouldn't be my first choice but after seeing this one, I thought it was pretty dern cool.
My valve cover is powder coated silvery pewter. Looks stock from a distance. Cleans easier than straight unfinished or unpolished aluminum.
