i originally posted this on another web site and thought it would be usefull on this one as well

ok i am just in from workin on the ml320 everything is out now, lunch then cleaning parts. then instalation !

photo in linkage 1 shows where the boot was torn.

photo linkage 2 unlatch spring in green arrow

the red arrow in linkage 2 shows where to insert a VERRY THIN bladed flat blade screwdriver. use extreame care and do not damage spring !! the idear is to wedge the blade under the tapered end of the pin that has to be pushed out to the left.

photo linkage 3 spring removed and you can see the tapered edge on the pin

photo linkage 4 red arrow shows the pin being pushed to outside of tranny. you can jently place a flatblade screwdriver in the pin's grove and lightly tap the pin further out till the linkage is loose.

once linkage is lose push it to the back of the tranny ( green arrow) at which time the linkage can be freed of the broken part causing the leak. make shure you remove screw from outside holding linkage on tranny first !!!

photo linkage 5 shows the removed parts .. clean and reuse the leaver and spring.the pin goes through the red arrow and the linkage attaches to the green arrow

in photo 4 where the pin is sticking out once the pin is pushed back in take a small amount of red high temp gasket sealer and press into the hole ( outside of the tranny )

i hope these photos can help the next person that has to replace a leaking linkage .
