Re: Ketzer-Treffen 2010

Karl,
That looks like fun and I would have tried to be there except our first grandchild was born last night. He is in Nashville and I'm headed that way right away. Have fun and we will hopefully make a Spring 2011 trip out west with ya'll and River, too.

Looks great Karl. Glad to see that River found your leg.
See you in a couple of weeks. Bring the projector, I'll bring the popcorn.

Well no other Ketzer around.......

Having an awesome time here at the traveled less but awesome back roads.

From Moab, UT to the Continental Divide, beauty at its best.

Camping plush at my earlier stumping grounds, doing a few Mojitos to comfier the thought of not being out there in the high 20's in the roof tent, but looking at the day's pictures - just incredible scenery.

The Expedition water tank is doing very well, nice to have a water source with a spigot and both of your hand free to splash with it.

Tomorrow some easy dirt road passes, I always wanted to drive......

Karl

I am very jealous, my friend. Maybe next year.

Re: Ketzer-Treffen 2010

Was I ever wrong:

"Tomorrow some easy dirt road passes, I always wanted to drive...... "

Leaving Aspen in the morning and driving up the Taylor Pass was not a problem but descending the other side was definitely not an easy task I was looking for.

Obstacle course in the Taylor River, to be completed with a 3-point turn around some large boulders was the highlight of this trail.

But the next mountain pass into Crested Butte had proven itself even a bit trickier - it took me over a hour to carefully climb just 30 feet on a narrow shelf road. No Harald

being around as my trusted spotter, just myself and some large sharped edge rocks close to the Abgrund. That mangled blue thing down there didn't help to improve the

already existing pucker factor. Luckily, I had packed and carried my friend Thor's recovery gear bag with me. His Viking Offroad special bag, filled with all kinds of goodies.

So I used my winch, hung the truck on the large rocks ahead of me, and very slow and even more carefully crawled/pulled the G-wagen ahead -

Yeah, some easy dirt road mountain pass

Ich verstehe mein Herr!

We, now Patricia is my navigator, took the Engineers Pass on and straighten a few things out, smoothed the ride a bit - so this is now ready for you Dutch.

No rear bumper killers, pin stripier or tire murders around anylonger
