Headlight question

Yes, it's probably a stupid question, but what's the easiest way to change my H4 headlight bulbs? Can you go in from the back or do you have to do it from the front? I've never done it on the G before.

RE: Headlight question

Kermit,

Always from the front.........only the gree@#$ from the back.. , you have to remove the trim first and then the holding screws of the lens, therafter you can get access to the bulb. Good time to clean the entire surface and Headlamp bowl.

RE: Headlight question

I thought so, but the screws holding the trim in place have rusted and I was hoping there was another way in (not ready for that job yet). Yes, it can get rather muddy at the back too .

Re: Headlight question

This is a good time to replace the rusted screws with some stainless ones. Clean the whole area, touch up any rust that might have developed. Change both bulbs at the same time so they appear similar and function as a brighter pair.

Good luck.

Re: Headlight question

I did just that, replaced both bulbs. Fortunately the screws weren't rusty (but the ones holding the grilles on are) and there was only a bit of dust and a few dead insects in there - no rust. A lot easier than I expected.
