Impromptu GWagen meeting??? Vancouver BC 1st week August?

I was reading Bratwurst's post on the seized E-brake / rear brakes  where Tom Schuhe mentioned being in Vancouver for a few days around August 1st.

Is there any interest in a small G Wagen meeting around that time? I'd be interested. ElevatorBernie? Tom? Michael? Razon? Others?

Regards, Roman

My wife and I are heading up in early September, but we might consider doing an early August day to just meet and get to know each other. My son is a graduate student at UBC, so this would be fun and family support in one weekend. Just plan it, and let's see what happens.

I was waiting for something like this to come up in a long time.
Unfortunately, Aug 1'st is scheduled for me allready. i'm going to "Turtle Jam" near Penticton.

I like the ideea of having some local events ...maybe even a trip. Somebody was talking about doing the Whipsaw trail last year, but I don't think anything happened. I just got back from this years trip...it would be nice to have another G come along. Check out the photo forum!

I wouldn't be able to make it out to the coast in August ( I just got back last week) but if there was a plan for a get together later this year for a trail run I would try my best to make it. The whipsaw would be good.
Razon, I actually bought an M101 trailer off Gavman from BC4x4 who said he knew you.

Yes, I know Gavman (Dany)
WOW! Small world.

If people are interested, I could do another Whipsaw run later in the year, but it would have to be JUST Whipsaw, without the other normail trails that people usualy do at the same time....so if it's just one weekend, I'm game
The bugs would be really bad that time of the year though

RE: Impromptu GWagen meeting??? Vancouver BC 1st week August?

I'm in for a meet; August 1st is gonna be the maiden voyage of my rig though, so I'll be out of town.

I know some of the guys aren't too keen on wheeling their daily drivers, what about a meet and greet, check out each other's rigs and have a few beers?

Could either do some light offroad stuff (Sunrise Lake?) or just cruise up to White Rock beach and see how much attention we can grab...

Cheers,

Michael

I doubt you'll be able to have a beer in one of White Rock's perking lots
Sunrise Lake is a good ideea, but I think V-rock will make a few people uncomfortable.

Count me in too. I have a good friend / fellow G owner who would attend as well if the time was right.

White Rock is great. I would also suggest the small park 3/4 of the way up to Cypress Mt. It's located inside the corner of one of the cutbacks... it's typically empy, has a huge field AND parking lot, and offers a view of the city. Just a thought!

Keep in touch!

RE: Impromptu GWagen meeting??? Vancouver BC 1st week August?

Greetings all!

Last weekend we needed to see our son at UBC middle of the week - one hour each way wait at the boarder. (Funny thing, in Europe I often did not even know when I went from one contry to another.) So, away we went for four days. Did lots of hiking mostly. Great urban and semirural walking areas around Vancouver.

I did notice a 1985 (about) Cabrio G (looked to be a retractable top) on the street near Broadway. I see a G or two around the UBC side of town each time we go there. The one last week had a larger than normal star in the grill. Any of you guys?

We are headed to Vancouver island the first week or two of September. Will likely end up in Port Hardy after making some west edge of the island treks. Any ideas for good photos or hikes? Could connect on the way back or the way up. It will be after Labor Day - fewer people on the roads.

Take care.

Tom

I'll probably be passing through Vancouver some time during the beginning of the week of Aug 22nd. However, it won't be in the G.

Dutch,

Looks like you might be coming through Vancouver, BC soon. Hope your travels are safe. Although the sun is out is the south Puget Sound, the forcast is for showers today. The rest of the week should be sun and 85 degrees F.

I am in and out of the area, but give a shout if time permits.

Tom
