It only took me 6 years but I finally replaced the lenses on my locker indicators. I got them from Eurotruck and they were cheap. You simply pop out the light housing with a little prying, then pull out the light socket from the back of the housing, then through the back use a small screwdriver to push out the old lense. Pop in the new and you're good to go. Takes 10 minutes. No need to replace the whole housing. Makes the cluster console that much pertier.  Steve I wonder why the front Diff lense wears out more than the rear? My looks exactly the same. Mark :err: Mine was that way too Mark. I noticed, last time I fell asleep at the wheel, that I had a locker signal impression on my forehead. So, one would logically assume that the indicator wear is due to years of rubbing ones forehead on the lens while "nap-driving". Duh. Jeremy, to answer your question. I'm satisfied with my engine mostly while on flat roads or screaming down hills. I've learned to deal with slow up hill speeds. Still a little emotionally challenging but I just remind myself that I'm not in a hurry. So, I get there a hour later than everyone else. No biggie. Upgrading your truck to the 606 is a bit of a task, a lot of time, and, a lot of money. The 617A is sooooooo reliable and soooo simple and soooo easy to drop in, it's a really really tough argument to make the change for the power in my opinion. It's also more tolerable to straight veggie. My plan is to watch Syncro and see what he does. He'll be doing some tweaking over the next couple of years. Then just copy him and take advantage of his resources and resourcing knowledge after I get him all liquored up. He's a smart feller and has been watchin/reading all the turbo diesel forums. Let's keep my plan a secret though. :cheers: So in order for your forehead to hit the front diff light, your head must be gelatinous and flow through the humungous steering wheel eh?  Now yours was a stock (617) when you originally bought it correct? (at least that's the story I remember from a certain overlanding mag).  If you were to do the swap again, would you do 617A again or maybe go with a 603A (shouldn't be too difficult/$, vs 606A)? I'll keep it a secret. (Syncro, what threads you eye'in off the STD forum?) | |

I am in the process of slowly restoring a 1980 G230 cab myself and I want the same original "look" as your car, with standard steel rims, narrow tires and so on. Mine was originaly the same color as your´s but will probably be painted Agüave Grün when I get that far Because I LOVE the Agüave Grün colors way of screaming: - I am from the eighties!
It looks so right that it almost make me cry The cab will be my girlfriends daily driver and she is even more in love with the color than I am so for now it looks like it will become Green not red. You definitly have a valid point there though and I am still considering my options so who knows
