| nadd Expert Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: UAE, Dubai Vehicle(s): G500 2016 LHD, numerous Chevys Posts: 1285  | GWOA AGM 3 Oct2010, Mercedes World, Brooklands, UK Just returned from what was undoubtedly the most memorable GWOA event I've attended (in my whole 4 years of membership)  We set off early to get there on time, meeting along the way with Pok in his G320 (LHD). Once we got there, we were greeted by a sight to behold...about 20 Gs in various shapes and sizes, the largest turnout of an AGM I've been to yet (not saying much, this being my second  On to the Maybach Suite, were again we were pleasantly surprised by a room full of enthusiasts and their families (50+), and 2 magnificent spanking new Gs. One a 2009/10 G55k, and the other a G500(5.5) G-guard model, replete with intercom system, 4 seats, barn doors and fire extinguishing system. Outside waiting for us was even more eye candy; a brand new G350CDI LHD, and a similarly new 461 290 RHD, apparently just arrived from Deutschland yesterday. Needless to say we took plenty of pictures, so expect some here and more on the GWOA site (which should be up and running soon, we were promised  After the formal part was done, we went out to the track, with around 8 of our members' cars of various vintages, and the 2 MB cars, on to the "off-road" track. Fairly amusing, with a couple of steep sections, nothing too serious. In the background played the tunes of AMG's finest, with E63s, SL65s, SLS and other beauties doing power slides and action laps for drooling passengers behind us (mostly on the wet skidpad) I'll try to post some pictures later on, here's a taster Expect a full report in the next issue of the G Wizz! I should like to thank and greet all the people I met today, many of whom I forgot already, but before I forget the rest: - The generous (and very brave) gent who let me drive his G55k - The GWOA committee for pulling off a great event - Some of the names I remember...Pok, Rakesh, Joe, Tim H, Tim C, Tony, David, Mark, Roly, Shaun, Chris, Fred, John, George, Howard, Richard, etc etc etc the list goes on! Ps. sorry about photo quality, mobile phone with no tripod! First, lining up for the start Views from inside the G55 A 460 driver confused as to the operation of GA and diff locks, Roly sorted them out! Steep rock face, yes we were pointed up at the sky while actually on it The last one is our fine chariot for the day, bog "standard" G55 that handled as well (in some cases better) than the 461, due largely to wide road tyres, which helped on the stone slope (as did the torque). Hope there'll be others, MB was pretty hospitable. Sorry but I'm terrible with names, one thing we should have in future events is badges with name/forum username and vehicle. The creme 460 is actually from Loughborough 1 of 3 cars that day...the LWB with the A-bar is a 300GE with what looks like AMG exhaust, it sounded awesome! The L-reg SWB belong to a techy guy if I remember right, hopefully when the forum is back up we'll be able to match names and vehicles. | |

Don't complain! I am told that the bulge was done to allow the EGR valve for recirculation of exhaust fumes that needs to be fitted to units destined to EURO 5 compliant markets. It does not exist in export markets where EURO 3 suffices! | |
