Hi Jeremy,

open paint - take a picture of the green G (search for biiiggg tires) and put everything together in front of the picture of the red G55. Ready is the combo of your dreams. The gravel lot is up to your imagination as well - sogni d'oro - hehehe!

raicar

LOL, thanks Raiko.

I've tried searching pics of W461's on mobile.de but haven't found an answer yet...what year did the W461's begin coming with this style gauge cluster?

the 461 guage cluster changed in the late 90s... 97-98 would be my guess

Thanks. So most likely there is no such gauge cluster in this style WITHOUT an immobilizer??? (supposedly 461 immobilizer's came out in '97/98)

Most of the real military cars(for example the Canadian LUVWs) don´t have an immobilizer, so there must be such a thing. Just look into the EPC, you can find a Canadian VIN here on the board, search for 461331

Hi Jeremy,

this instrument cluster was introduced 2002 together with the Worker G 270 CDI. Actual delivery started 2003. Those slides are out of the official presentation for the Daimler salesforce and dealers:

Perfect, thx!!! Looks like a preMBUSA W463 cluster.
I'll ask in another thread if anyone knows of a W460 owner who has tried to fit a pre'02 W461 "domed" cluster into their rig for better gauge functionality/reliability...

Hi Jeremy,

the 290 Turbodiesel instrument cluster (as shown in thairish's picture of Tom Sheppard's Kastenwagen interior) was available from late 96 (after the "Werksferien") until end of the production July 2001. This instrument cluster was - as far as I remember - "stolen" from the Sprinter. So check Sprinter scrapyards in the US for this part, if you want to have one. But why would one want to have this cluster, if you can replace and repair every single clock in the pre-290 Turbodiesel era (460 series and early 461 series) instrument cluster. If you have a problem with the newer one (up from 1996), you have to replace the whole unit.....again senseless and btw mucho expensive!

Thanks Raiko.
Understood about the need to replace the entire 290GDT/Sprinter cluster if something goes wrong with one dial...was just looking for an alternative to the older W460 gauges. Thinking about going aftermarket VDO vs new OEM Mercedes/VDO just to have perhaps more reliable gauges.

I saw this for sale in the UAE and the colour seems very similar to the many pictures here. Sorry can't find a bigger photo!

Sorry not much detail on that, other than it's a 2010 model with 3800kms on the clock.

I hope i'm not hi-jacking the thread, but I can't resist with these weird colours I come across. This blue one is quite rare too (says it's one of 4 in the UAE).
