RE: Good mornin' America...

I can't decide if it looks better with the doors on or off.
A translation of the Arabic: The horse is like steel (talking about a car?).

Huss how can you have 15-inch tyres on Atiks, that are 16-inch?

RE: Good mornin' America...

Hi nadd,

we were travelling alongside an old railway, which was built by the French in the 1920's and 30's, to get raw materials (iron ore, mangan,...) transported from Niger to the then French homeland - Algeria. Le cheval de fer in this context means railway. Here you go with a couple of pictures to make your decision a little bit easier on how the Wolf looks best...

RE: Good mornin' America...

Hallo raicar,

Thanks for the extra photos - now I am really confused - I think I love them all equally

Even my wife commented on me scrolling up and down the screen, "seems you are obsessed"!

Also more interest has been added to the photos with the addition of the pickup and PUR or PUR lookalike, with a very similar number plate, must be the same distinguished driver

I see what you mean about the railway - it is great that travellers take the time and interest to try to understand their chosen area of travel. Do you have any previous adventures or plans to see the empty quarter (rub' al khali) desert in the Arabian peninsula?

RE: Good mornin' America...

Raico,

your tires are too small and they have way too much air - that's why you could not pull the trailer (trailer needs very low air pressure as well)

we had the same issue with Karl's trailer last year in Mexico in very soft sand
once he aired down significantly (and his tires are larger than yours) driving was as easy as on pavement

RE: Findings when travelling to Morocco...

Maitre Harald – you’re darn right in nearly everything you say – this is for sure!

My major findings during this trip were:

a) When travelling to Morocco take sufficient beer with you
b) Take a (professional) air compressor with you

I was lacking both after a short while, which might explain part of the serious "misery"
I was experiencing in Morocco.

As far as the tires are concerned I’ll presumably stick with them, as they do a good
job under rainy and muddy European conditions and they fit the gearing together with
those tiny Dieselponies we do drive. Majority of Europeans just can’t afford the kind
of “Gas-Guzzlers” you guys over the pond are able to feed…

...this being said I have to admit that a G 500 would most likely have pulled the trailer
over the top (with 1 bar tire pressure)… mais c'est la vie!

RE: Good mornin' America...

Hi Thairish,

yes that's the Standard 96 litre fuel tank which was introduced 1990 together with the 463 and 461 model lines. It's a little bit more visible, as there are no bumpers at the rear of the Wolf. Thank you for the "flowers" - highly appreciated,

Wonder why you removed the bumpers, are they in the process of being replaced?

Ah I see, thanks! I suppose the trailer is your bumper in that case.

RE: Good mornin' America...

nadd, you dont miss a thing mate,do you ?? masallah !! the silverstone mt's are 16, they will be fitted onto steal rims soon as they are colour coded to the G they are an extreme tire for extreme conditions and i dont want to damage the attiks along the way.

raicar, your G looks so good mate ! infact the colour looks similar to my new love, BRONZEGRAUEN

btw, is the 3rd braske light original equipment?

RE: Good mornin' America...

Yeah - quite a solid bumber - made of massive "Danish oak" - the lower corner is roughly 100cm above groundlevel - every car - new or old - produces a 4 digit € invoice bumping in the trailer - my guess!

RE: Good mornin' America...

removing the bumper is a good idea if you use a trailer alot. i damaged my cabrio's bumpers on a few occasions. [ofcourse my lack of knowledge was the main reason and the bumpers paid the consequences ]

raicar, what are the rings found on the side panels of the wolfe? by the rear bumper on the side and by the side door? they look like shackels?

RE: Good mornin' America...

Hi Huss,

in fact the OEM colour was BRONZEGRAUEN . The car was in 1996 completey refurbished in Graz to MB1474. The upper side of the dashboard is coloured in "brazil", the downside in "dade" or "beige", however the colour is called?! The braking light comes from the early 463 convertible and was adapted to fit the Wolf. The hooks are there to lift the Wolf or tie the Wolf down firmly to a palette as pictured below:

RE: Good mornin' America...

hi raicar. can you post some more pics of the interior please ? you have the hella map light, but where did you mount it,like the pur edition?
how is the rear seat setup ? you have what looks like a early 460 light switch by the steering wheel, but also seem to have the later style round light switch on the centre consul too

i am liking your colour more and more as my 79 G nears the bodyshop stage next week.

a few hundred pics would be nice mate

ps, and a few of the engine bay too
