RE: 280GE power loss and stall issues

Gents

Problem seems to be solved, and it appears to have been that ignition box. A new MB part is about R5500 (about 680US) but the mechanic found an after market unit which is cheaper (i do not know how much it costs yet since i have not seen his invoice).

He has taken it for a long test drive, and the vehicle has been working on site since the last three days. I have taken it for a short drive today and it feels fine to me, easily revving to 6000 and the power seems similar. (I do not know whether this unit will affect power)

So I hope we have the right thing here.

The unit is shown in the pics below:

Sounds like good news.  I am curious if the "box" is G specific for the lower compression motor or whether sedan "boxes" would work too.  When you get invoiced, let us know what brand and cost.

The box was about R850 (105US). I have not been able to determine the origin or make.. will have to research a bit more

Re: 280GE power loss and stall issues

exactly that...my redundant unit has the first Bosch part no - now would this unit be able to affect the engine torque curve? I see one cannot access the spec without being registered. Maybe these guys can map something for the specific engine?
