RE: 463 Heater fan blower switch

Bill
You can do it without too much trouble. Pull the knob off using plyers and rag. See the big nut behind, undo it. Remove the bulb. Then pull the oddments tray out on the rhs of the radio and reach around behind the switch and manouvre it out. The wires will no doubt be tangled up, but there is sufficient slack to get the assembly to the outside. The switch pulls away from the big cable connector behind with a bit of leverage. If you are really stuck then pull out the radio and you will have access for a second hand
What's broken?

Re: 463 Heater fan blower switch

Was this the blower switch or could it be the blower resistor? My 1st position sometimes will not work, but then will come on after a while if left in that position. All other settings work fine.

Mine does the same thing exactly. Ever figure out if yours was the switch or resistor? If I have the opportunity tomorrow I'm going to try to get access to the back of the switch and test it.

For the last year or so, the second position on the switch has also stopped working, but will come on after running speed 3 for a while and then dropping down. 1st speed is kaput. This morning I replaced the resistor in the fresh air intake. A bit awkward of a job due to where the securing nuts are, but overall not too bad.
The new resistor did not fix the fan speed issues and I am getting a new 4 speed switch later this week from MB Germany.

The old resistor had additional contacts that aren't used for the 463 application and the new switch came only with the 4 live posts
