Re: Favorite pic of the day

Amazing pic! So cool that it goes from old (structure and G) to new.
Subliminal note: The boy sitting in the second curve is facing the newer G. Is he pondering a G in his future or the future of Gs.

Sorry got a little deep there.

M

Re: Favorite pic of the day

Hmmm... I feel happy that DBAG is still making the 461, even though they don't sell it here. Thank you for the link Luky; if I could, I'd buy that one for sale in a heartbeat.

To me, these vehicles are worth the debt.

Amazing pictures Steve and Luky. Very nice, indeed!

Brent, when I see Your profile picture, it reminds me a local shop is selling exactly the same car- W461 G270CDI Guard B6/7. The car has only about 25.000 kms and they are asking 39 000 euro, that`s about 50 000 USD. So maybe even worth importing to the US (if You can import an armored car).

Re: Favorite pic of the day

Another great find Luky! Yes, you are correct: the vehicle in my picture is an armored G (a G270 CDI). Back in 2005, I tried purchasing one from a US company by the name of Stewart&Stevenson.

A company rep infored me that they couldn't sell one unit for private use and even if they could, the vehicle would never be allowed to be registered or driven on public roads. I was also informed that I would have to pay a heavy fine for the unauthorized access/use of this vehicle.

The CDI engine is not 50 state legal and because there is no crash data available for the 461, I would have a challenging time proving the vehicle would be able to meet the DOT's crash certification standards and criterion.

Plus, I really don't want to have to go through the lengthy, legal and expensive process of having a RI make other modifications to the vehicle when there is no guarantee that I'll be able to legally drive this G here.

DBAG's pockets are far, far richer, vastly deeper and superior than mine (I am actually very, very, very poor in comparison. Now that I mention it, I am really, really poor. lol). If they can act on mine as well as on other potential US buyers behalfs and can get the 461 DOT certified/ EPA approved/USA ready and do whatever they need to do to get this G for sale here, I'll gladly award them for their effort and commit to at least one.

And this is without knowing the price or even having sat in or driven one. I have faith that a several many others in this community and beyond will follow. Until then... I can only wish and hope.

Bit of contrast there Hus.
