Seat removal tool

I got an email from a member expressing an interest to buy a seat removal tool.
My age is preventing me from removing the seats again, so I offerd to sell the tool to him for $100 shipped in the US.
I no longer have access to the milling machine, jig nor torches to make them.
If he fails to make the purchase, I'll post the info.
Due to lack of interest when I made them, I did give two set to the local M Benz mechanics.
One may wish to sell his, I'll ask after the deal goes thru.
My 2002 Gwagen only has 93K on the clock. I think it will out last me.
After the alternator failed and was replaced, I had no more electrical problems.
The "G" is a great ride for me.

Re: Seat removal tool

I got a reply by email that the member removed the bolts to get the seats out.
I'm surprised he managed this.
Anyway, He had not mentioned buying the tool as of this time.
As to Rental, that crossed my mind.
Problem is, some folks forget to return them.
I would gladly loan the tool if I was sure I'd get it bac

Harald,
What kind of help would be most important to you in your perdicament?
Drop an email please.

Assuming the PM system worked (it's showing as being in my Outbox, not sent), you should have a PM regarding this.

You can get it.
PM me your email and I'll go from there.

Sorry, but I did not get any message.

Koly, your post must have been posted while I was creating this message, I'm awaiting a pm and the first in gets it.
I do not need the tool and Harald can use the donation I'm sure.
I'm not getting any pm's.
Dutch or Harald can supply my email if you ask and I'll definitely reply.

Re: Seat removal tool

Dutch, After using the tool for many times now, I think there is a mod that would make it easier to use.
I would turn the vise grips over and attach the short piece to the hinged jaw and put the long arm on the stationary body.
Doing so would make it easier to open and close the jaws as the lever would be in the up position and allow for easier closure.

Re: Seat removal tool

I was replying to AMG463 if he goes forward with replicating the tool... I don't have any dire need, but I could see wanting to use it in the future, though.

Re: Seat removal tool

talked with the shop today, i'll be supplying the vise grips. they want some better CAD drawings as it appears some measurements are missing from the PDF Dutch supplied, but if I can get one from someone to use for the copying purpose, I will gladly mail it back. anybody have a preference for the soft grip handles or is the standard all metal fine?

Re: Seat removal tool

The PM's arrived.
AMG463 was in @ 9/29 8:14. He made an offer that will add to the help of assisting Harold and I am appreciative that.
Everything helps.
He is the buyer.
Greynolds was second in at 9/29 @ 8:46
I consider it sold to AMG463 and await his email to me.
AMG463, I think I have a few left over vise grips that I will throw in if you are plannng to make some.
Greynolds, I will ask the mechanics at MBenz if one wants to give theirs up.
I appreciate your interest and wish I had another.

Karl is in touch with Harald and we could work this out with him to avoid delays.
