The metal bases of my outside rear view mirrors, the part that attaches to the door, have corroded. Has anyone tried any of the aftermarket versions and if so any suggestions? Thank you

The driver's side is worse off and I suspect when I start poking I'm going to find through and through holes. The roads here are treated with brine and rock salt in the winter, sand seems to have gone out of fashion. Tough on all the metals. Some of the aftermarket mirrors may be all plastic which has a low maintenance appeal.
