I first replaced all all spark plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor button and coil. Not much improved. So I decided there must be vacuum leaks and I pulled the intake manifold. This was quite a time consuming job, around 12 hours, to pull, clean and replace all gaskets, injectors, sensors, every rubber fitting and all vacuum lines. I got all the parts through MB classic and several had to come from Germany, with around $1,700 in parts. The engine now runs like new. The G has 189k miles and should, like my sons easily hit 300Kmiles. Hope you are all well and enjoying life. AGuess

I should probably replace the fuel filter however.
