Transfer Case replacement...should I?

The transfer case on my 2015 G63 with 70k has been in for a leak twice before. The have replaced gasket around driveshaft and that has fixed it....for a time. After a year it starts to leak again, it's been fixed twice now. The dealer is offering to replace the T case under warranty, as it was an issue before the truck was out of warranty. It will be replaced with a rebuilt T case not a brand new one.

It seems a bit odd to fix a leak by replacing a $10k transfer case but that's what they are offering. Any reason why I shouldn't do this?

Re: Transfer Case replacement...should I?

I would let them replace it. could be any of a number issues. I would ask them what else is replaced with, e.g. the mounts, new hardware, etc. I would also ask them to verify the transfer case fluid that it will be filled with.

My 2011 Cayenne is on its 4th transfer case (poor design of the clutch pack coating) and my 2000 G500 is on its original, both with similar miles. Two very different designs.
