Worldwide G spec source

Does anyone know of a source that outlines what specs Gs were delivered with around the world?

Specifically, I am trying to determine if 2007 Gwagens in Japan had the factory welded on trailer hitch base plate?

It appears none have the actual hitch in Japan (at least that I have seen) but perhaps they DO have the base plate factory welded on. I have a few books that chronicle history of the G but don't cover this detail. For example, by comparison, there is a Porsche Data Book that lists all of this information for Porsche cars.

Thanks!

This may help with the specific trailer hitch question: https://www.g-wagenaccessories.com/products/heavy-duty-trailer-hitch...
Karl also offers the mounting plate if the japanese model does not have it. https://www.g-wagenaccessories.com/products/mercedes-g-wagen-trailer...

Re: Worldwide G spec source

Thank you Inkblotz.

Yes, I did find that solution and at least I know there is one. Problem is I live in a small town and I haven't yet found anyone qualified to do the welding part of the equation. Somewhere, someone can do it, it's just proving to be more complicated and expensive than planned so I have to factor that into my decision making on whether or not this is the time and way to move into a newer G. (of course I am torn as I love my trusty 300GD, but it might be time for speed the NA diesel does not provide!)

Re: Worldwide G spec source

Seems like such an insignificant expense considering you are getting the G you want. Perhaps find a place in route that can weld that plate on for you before it arrives at your home.

Re: Worldwide G spec source

I did end up finding somewhere in town that is qualified to do it. So yes, worst case scenario is more cost and hassle if it comes without the plate but still end up with the function I need.

RE: Worldwide G spec source

Only 2009-2012 MBUSA G-class lacked the frame mounted tow bracket. Any 2007 Gwagen whether in USA, Canada or Japan should be equipped for towing from the factory.
