Leaking pinion seals

I noticed a spot on my garage floor under the front axial.
Further inspection I discovered that both axel pinions were covered in the 90-weight oil.
So, I am surprised. 25,600 miles and both are leaking!
Never heard of this happening.
So, as the warranty is out by 3 years, I have no other option than to pay to have it fixed.
The local station refused to fix it as they did not have the torque specs to reinstall the new seals.
I got the parts for less than $80.00.
But Mbenz wants $175.00/hour for labor estimated to be 4-5 hours.
I have no other option at present.

Now on another note, I spoke with one of the mechanics today and he said that Mbenz is offering a extended warranty on the new engines.
Seems that the valves are burning out.
Not good on a $50,000.00 engine.
Plus add to that he was working on a 2017 G that has the engine check lite on.
He said the owner was using the wrong grade fuel and the computer told him so.
He said there was going to be a 2-hour charge for the correction.
Kinda makes me leery.

RE: Leaking pinion seals

That is a shame about the pinion seal. I guess they all leak eventually.

I have used the wrong grade of fuel many times on my 2002 and 1999 G500s. I understand that the engine management system will retard ignition if preignition is detected from low octane fuel. This was a design feature to enable use of the vehicle in areas with limited premium fuel availability. For me this has been in placed like Baja Mexico and Panamint Springs, Death Valley. The first time I used regular, it was with some anxiety, now I mostly use premium instead of just all the time.
