How-To : Make your own tweeter mounts.

Tools:

Dremel
Scotch Tape
Hot Glue Gun

What I did:

1) Removed the upper panel of the door. picture
2) Cleaned the area up using the dremel. picture
2) Taped off where i wanted the tweeter to go. picture
4) Held my breath and begun to cut! picture
4) Removed the plastic circle then cut a small triangles. (previously pictured)
5) If the tweeter did not fit the first go, then re-cut, it is better to be to small then too big!
6) Squeeze the tweeter in, and hot glue around the edges to hold it in.
7) Sit back and enjoy the tunes!

Hi ttaleric.

I actually did exactly the same thing several years ago on my
Misubishi 4WD.
I remember holding my breath, until the hole was just right!!

What was interesting, was the incredible difference that it made to the sound.

The only problem that I had, was that on certain types of music, the tweeters that i installed
were very "bright", which I suspect was a result of the cheap crossover that I was using.

I got around the problem, by pointing them (they were gimbal types) in towards the windshield,
so they were not aiming directly towards my ears.

So for anyone else trying this mod, experiment with the angle, if they are the gimbal types.
It will alter the sound and you can adjust to suit.

This looks like a fairly simple project to attempt. Without a huge write-up if its possible, how would you go about connecting these tweeters? Would you recommened a crossover like pleubner suggested or would you just splice into the lower door speakers?

Sound Proofing your ML

Material to sound proof all doors and trunk lid.

The places where most of the noise comes from is through :-

1. Door speakers (dampen opposite side of the speakers on the inside of the outer door shell)

2. Rear Air vent behind the side part of the bumper (dampen the inner side of the bumper side parts)

3. Front window Frame (rubber in which the window slides does not extend down far enough. Place extra rubber in frame)

Taillights mod(pics)
Today i was boring at work and I have decided to make some mods on my new style taillights.First of all lowermost bulb in taillights has 2 fitments-4 watt and 21 watt. On old style headlights only one fitment-4 watt worked( untill you push foglight button) .Now I made that -when you braking both the top and bottom bulbs shone equally brightly-21 watt.
Second-as you all know there is a little bulb on the side of new style taillights(sidemarker or however you call it)-I have decided to connect it to a turn signal.
BTW the thing that i really like about my mode its when i push my fog light button all my brake lights will light up(all 5)
I also replaced amber turnsignal bulb with chromeplated amber bulb.........

installing crossovers

for those of you who are not sure where to put crossovers for your speakers... there is a ncie spot in the door where there is a lot of space between the door panel and the inner metal frame.

Laptop under My seat. Used a 7" liliput touchsceen. YOU can fit the screen taking front and back frame apart sticking the ML console in between adn screwing the whole thing back together this way u have a nice OEM looking install.
