R129 SL 320 "Mille Miglia" Edition

Apparently, this was a limited edition of the SL 320, only avalible for Germany. It looks pretty nice.

Thanks for responding AML. I was beginning to abandon this forum as well.

Yea, Brilliant Silver looks great on the R129. I saw this Silver Arrow at my dealer a couple of weeks ago:

Silver looks great on every Mercedes.

cool. I really like the R129. it is so cool. I wish it had double glazed windows, like the W140 though.

The Mille Miglia was available throughout Europe - in both SL320 and SL500 form.

I had a Silver Arrow which was primarily made for for the US - however it was limited to 100 models in the UK with the V8 only.

Re: R129 SL 320 "Mille Miglia" Edition

Hi,

The Mille Miglia SL's were available in the UK in 1995. Only 40 SL320 and 40 SL500 came to these shores. It was the last of the straight six R129 SL's and the build quality of these 1995 cars has to be seen to be believed, go and have a crawl round a '95 car and then a '96 model of any Mercedes-Benz.

The Mille Miglia was a rare special edition offering by M-B, commemorated the 40th Anniversary of the race famously won by Moss & Jenkinson, it also was a design study for the about to be launched baby SL, the SLK.

My car, a 320, has done just over 70,000 miles and runs like a dream. Feels spot on and has not changed with the years at all. Has only been serviced by the main dealer and this year they actually said this car does not need anything other than an oil and filter change with basic checks . . never had that with any car in my life.

Usually I use this car for @ 3k-5k miles per year, I'm considering using it everyday from March onwards. The car needs some paintwork and minor cosmetic attention. While these cars are so cheap, I'd love to find a similar era SL60 or maybe SL600 and split the mileage between the two cars. If I find the right car for a steal, it'll be difficult not to give in to the temptation of having the vehicle upgraded by Brabus. Take a look at the V12 lump in a Pagani Zonda and then the V12 in M-B's. Yes, 450bhp -600bhp is easily dooable, and there are many many 'classic' brabus thundering about daily with over half a million miles passed under that three pointed star.

Here's to 2009 !!
