V8 C Pillar Emblems?

Hey guys,

Well, I was looking around eBay today, and found some cool "Gunmetal Black" or Chrome Mercedes-Benz V8 Emblems that I could put on the C-Pillar of my S500. I kinda like them, and I am thinking of putting either the gunmetal black, or the chrome V8 Emblems on the S500. They are not too expensive at all, and I do like them.

I remember ychachad did the same thing to his S420, and I really liked the outcome. I am posting pics of the outcome of his car, as well as the Chrome V8 Emblem, and the Black emblem.

AND, for those of you who prefer OE. Don't worry, only the best for the W140. This is Mercedes-Benz OE. Although, this emblem is from the newer generation of Mercedes-Benz. (W220, W203, W463, etc.)

By The Way: ychachad, where are you? You registered, and posted a little bit, but haven't visited since. I miss not seeing you around.

PLEASE VOTE ON WHETHER OR NOT I SHOULD GET THEM, AND INSTALL THEM ON MY CAR, AND/OR POST YOUR COMMENTS HERE. I WANT TO HEAR YOUR OPINIONS GUYS.

PICS:

RE: V8 C Pillar Emblems?

I'd go for the silver (If I had a V8) my only concern is that the V8 on that car looks a little too big but it might just be the photo but then from memory his came from a lexus. So if they are about the same size as the V12 I say DO IT!

yea, these is the same V8 emblems like the picture below. About the same size as V12 emblems. Thanks for your thoughts NZ Benz. Yea, I like them as well, and I think I will get them. my main concern though, it aligning them properly.

I always hate things like that. i always get nervous.

RE: V8 C Pillar Emblems?

What I would do is get a ruler and a wax pen and draw a line to line them up with a point of reference like the window sill.

that's a good idea. I think I will do that. THANK YOU NZ BENZ! I never even thought of that. I think i may have to do the same thing to a real S600, and have it perfect. Maybe someone with an S600 will be able to help. I think I am going to post this same thread on BW, because there is a lot of people.

I'm not going to get the Kompressor badge, just the V8. You can get the kompressor or V8 badges at your nearest dealer, or online, of course. If I get the V8 badge, it is going to be from eBay.

RE: V8 C Pillar Emblems?

well, I was alerted that I could also put them on the front fender. What do you guys think? Front Fender? or C-Pillar? I can't decide

I'd go with the C pillar, it sort of fits in with the chrome rims around the windows rather than being so obvious on the fender. You still have the V8 badge but C pillar is more classy IMO. Also easier to lineup the badges with a reference point (back window).

RE: V8 C Pillar Emblems?

yea, I think you guys are right. C Pillar? Fender is a little too weird. A chrome V8 Emblem will fit nicely at the C Pillar.

I don't like either. But I had to choose I would choose an inconspicuous spot on the fender like they do for the 7-Series BMW. The C-Pillar just looks so weird IMO from an outsider's point of view.

Re: V8 C Pillar Emblems?

Yeah. That V12 badge on the 600 is kind of weird on the c pillar.

so... what do you think. C pillar or fender

To be honest, I kinda don't feel like getting them anymore.

Because then people see the V8 badges either on the fender, or the c-pillar, they might think that I am putting a V8 badge on my car, and they might be thinking that I have an S320... (not that S320's are bad...)

And the more I think about it, a lot of people will think that putting v8 emblems on the S500 is like putting an S600 badge on the back.

Aww,

I think they should go on the front fenders
Nothing wrong with showing what you got

I've got one, black V8 emblem on the right side of the trunk lid on my 500SEL but also think the fenders are good spot

yea, they might look kinda cool on the fenders. I think if I do go for the V8 emblems, they will have to be chrome, because none of the other emblems on my car are black...
