should I buy or not?

found a nice G320 . SWB - A/C, Sunroof, leather, electrical seats, etc. The owner claims the Car sometimes has problems accepting gasoline when you hit the acceleration (gas) Pedal when cold. After that, no Problems when engine runs.

Any opinions on that one? Any Idea or thought or experience with this Engine or Injection System?

It's a 6 in Row engine with 11/1996 Model year !

RE: should I buy or not?

Price, Miles, Overall rest of the condition.
It is hard to say yes or no with just a fuel issue. If it is low miles and in great shape and the price is low enough to make fixing the fuel issue worth it then yes. If not ask if you can take it somewhere to have it looked at so that you know what the issue may be. Could be as simple as a cloged fuel filter to something worn out.
Every older G seems to have one thing or another wrong with it so you have to realize you are going to take the good with the bad buying one. If you feel the good is better then the bad go for it.

RE: should I buy or not?

I had a similar problem with my G320. It turned out the real problem was the engine wiring harness and cracked wiring going to the coil packs. Since it is pretty much the same as the sedan engine getting a mechanic to check it out should be easy. I doubt it is an expensive fix. The 320 in a swb would be a pretty entertaining car. If the price is right I would go for it!

Price asking is 18300 Euro, with 3 sets of tires and 1 set of Aluminium Rims. In addition a wheel cover, a set of wheel spacers.
I don't worry about fuel consumption anyway.

here some pics...

That's a lovely motor! Too good to be taken offroad! Which ends up being the problem for common people with average bank balances who cannot have two Gs> one like this one and another like your current one to be abused off the road.

I would buy it just so I could get rid of that ridiculous reversing light, other than that it looks like a good buy, even if it has an annoying cold start problem.

I think, the front extra lights have to go as well. The previous owner installed a third brake light with some "flying wires" and a luster terminal - but these are minor issues. The main reason for the possible buy is the excellent condition with 126.000 Km and the gray interior. I do like this more than the black one that are typical for this model year!

It is in excellent condition and I do agree about the fron t lights too, as a suggestion switch the head lihts to clear glass and search Hella's site for some really stylish driving lights that are quite narrow and chrome and glass that would look great in place of the two that are there I have seen them on a truck and they looked really good.

I would take a close look under the hood before venturing off-road with a G320. The alternator on mine was mounted very low and not fitted with a breather on the rear like the one in my 300GE. I was in some deep mud and it quickly ruined the alternator. Which makes the point that you already own the best model of G-class ever made

Thanks for your replies, I bought it
Can't wait to get the car over here. And yes, Offroad will be not on my list next periode of time:-)
Been there before many of times - but the 320 have to wait some years to be taken for offroading!

RE: should I buy or not?

So Klaus, will you keep two virtually similar Gs?

I was there once: Had my trusty 1984 300 GD SWB Manual which I used extensively off-road and then got the opportunity to buy my current 1991 300 GD SWB Manual which I then said would not take off-road.

I then ended up paying two road taxes plus two insurance premiums for two virtually equal GWagens. So I had to sell the older one at great loss and with a heavy heart!

And naturally the newer one ended up being offroaded extensively.

And what the heck! If my friend Javi can do these things to his beautiful G500 SWB then anything can be taken offroad.

Cheers
