The whole 1999 S/CL search...

Are they really rare because 1999 was the last year of the W140 in the U.S. when the W220 finally got it's debut?

Well the W220 started arriving in mid to late 1999 AFAIK so yea these must have been the last ones off the line.

yea, they were the last ones destined for the U.S. market. I believe that they were all built in 1998, and delivered in 1998, but they were 1999 model year. There were 1217 S600 (LWB) Sedans produced in 1999, but I'm pretty sure that none of these came to the United States. There were 7 W140's produced in the year 2000; (1) S500 (LWB), and (6) S600 (LWB)

You have one of the rarest W140's in the world if you own a year 2000 W140 S Class. Although, if you have one, you are probably a president/diplomat/etc.
