| alternator for 83 230e w123?
Hey guys,
my name is Nathan and i have just signed up to ask you guys a question...
i have got a white 1983 230e (w123) and was wondering what alternator
i should upgrade to? the reason for the upgrade is because i have done
some modifications to the stereo - standard 4inch and 6 inch speakers just
wasnt cutting it for a young fella :P and i think i will be needing a larger
alternator. currently i have a bigger battery and running 6inch 3 way splits
in the front and 2 ways in the back powered by an amp with 2 subs powered
by another amp. I also have a pioneer dvd 6.5inch screen head unit in the
front. I was thinking of either just getting 2 more head rest screens or getting
the screens and 2 more subs and another amp. Either way i was thinking
it would be best to get another battery (most likely a dry cell) and up grading
the alternator. Should i search for a v8 model alternator? what are my choices?
also would there be head rests for sale on this site? i want to try and keep the
modifications i am doing to the car relatively easy to return it back to original
condition because i really respect the old mercs and think they are great cars
and really have admiration for the concourse originals...

us diesel guys can upgrade to a 115 amp alternator out of an early 90's SAAB........it has the exact same mounting and everything, ready to go.........i dont see why you couldnt do the same thing on your gas model, but dont take my word for it, i dont know for sure.........(though i cant see how it could effect your charging/fuel injection systems, all it does is mean u have to capacity to charge a bigger battery quicker.......) |
