The welding and machining is done, just some clean-up and then to the powdercoat guy. Sorry no updated pctures yet. Is anybody is interested to get one of these units - for cost and shipping only - and put it through some good tuff tests? If so, please PM or email me. Now here is the old picture with the wooden proof of concept model..... It's iron wood and I'll make you a good deal.......just looking for a strong varnish! Hope the real thing is going to be finished soon - it's always a problem if you have to depend on others to get your stuff done...... Karl

There are some strange things happening with the photo uploader. Try running them through your image editor and resaving them. Then try to upload again. That's what I had to do with the Spannerfest photos from Roughneck in the other thread.

Does the lower hitch pin bracket extend under the winch mounting plate for added strength? It looks that way from the heat markings. BTW, how's the rear end gear job going?

Yeah, you are right, the lower bracket extends for the added strength.....still need somebody, who would like to have the second prototype for part & shipping costs only and test it throughly. Martin, do you refer to the front end, rear end, gear change, brake overhaul, wheel bearings, king pin bearings, seals, trailing arm bushing and what ever job? Tomorrow might be the day, when our G could come home...... I let you know how it's playing out.... Karl

I'd love to take you up on the offer, but I don't have a winch ... yet. I like your design of simplicity and wouldn't mind taking it a step further to adapt it to a custom rear bumper. A guy from Portugal (or Spain) has front and rear winch mountings and posted pics on the "other" forum a couple months ago. I'm sure someone else on this forum with a winch will jump at your generosity.
