Brake service WIS - is there one?

I know there are several write-ups on the brake service issue. I have searched the WIS info above and didn't find it. So does anyone have a WIS for this?

The early MLs had sliding calipers, after the facelift they all have fixed caliper brakes.

Why the change -Sliding to Fixed ???

Just been through this excercise myself, ordering new pads was a nightmare (ensuring correct parts) over the internet. I hope I got it right ( Brakes in the post!!)

Fixed calipers have pistons both sides of the rotors and are more powerful than sliding calipers which have pistons only on the one side. They seem also to be less susceptible to braking unevenly than sliding calipers brakes.

Re: Brake service WIS - is there one?

did this with instructions from thsi site yesterday....

worked flawless!

new front rotos,
new pads...

took me about 3 to 4 hours with the right tools.

breaking performance is not as good as it was right now but i guess it takes a little wear before it starts working to its full potential???

Re: Brake service WIS - is there one?

I am in the process of doing this right now.
Is the torque wrench absolutely needed for this job? Also for the fixed caliper ..what is the size of the locking bolt 35?

thx

Also the 180 nm seems high for the locking bolt 35, is that not like 132 lb-ft?
