Actually I think all 463´s has the battery behind the front-seats...?, If this is correct It will never fit a 463. FR has agreed to take it back. So it fits pre-2001 W463. While you have the tank, see if it interferes with the transverse muffler found on most of these.

Sorry I can´t verify this, I´m out of the shop for now. But the bigger issue is that the bracket with the u-bolt wont be fitted, the heat-shield above the silencer interferes.

There is an MB factory part that replaces the center silencer with a straight pipe. It is what my G came with. That ought to let the tank fit. In my case I rebuilt the whole exhaust to keep everything on the right side. That left room for the extended range tank and a compressor where the silencer used to be.

Happy days are here again! Actually, I'll bet it fits quite a few of the pre-2001 W463s and probably a lot of the W461s. The criteria appear to be

Nice to know it would fit an earlier petrol G463 with the center muffler deleted. Confirmation of this would be good information to have here. My G500 currently has the complete stock exhaust including the center muffler.

thebigblue Date registered: Jan 2012 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Front Runner Auxiliary fuel tank I´m 99% sure that what Allan suggest, replacing the center silencer with the MB pipe, will be the cure for the early 463´s, - see pictures in the FR install manual. There´s no need to delete the two pre-silencers, actually removing these will leave your truck completely without any silencer, so your link to this kit for the 2002+ 463 trucks at Karl´s shop ads confusion to the correct solution, the battery-box will still interferer Edited by thebigblue 1/27/2015 1:23 PM

Mine has that exhaust modification. Remove the heat shield too. On the later V8s you need substantial alterations to form a twin system AMG style with increased noise levels.

Exactly - I´m currently looking into any modifications to the FR-tank to make it fit my 2005 V8 G400 CDi, It might loose some 5 liters in volume due to battery-box cut-out, they might be reclaimable by making the tank a bit longer though, I will also need to make some space for the center-silencer, this a small fix I believe.

Front Runner no longer has a valid link for their aux tank. It may be the Merfcedes tank for the early G-pro 461 will work, but without a title I cannot order one in USA. Any tips would be appreciated. I reached out to ORC and they will not sell me an under floor tank. They will only sell it as a package with installation in their own workshop, no exceptions. If any one has a contact in Germany or Europe that could get one of their tanks for me, that would be a good solution as well.
