I've been driving this truck everyday for the last three years, and I've done many preventative as well as regular maintenance stuffs, but it never gave me any issue except once for battery drain. The battery drain was due to the driver side seat module which somehow still was working and it was also fine when I did parasitic drain test, it must be one of those electric gremlins. Truck still looks great in and out and I've also done some cosmetic up grades, including 20" wheels, HID headlights, newer tail lights and aluminum pedals for brake and accelerator. I just want to say thank you everyone here for your great input and sharing knowledge, but most importantly, your passion for G-Wagon. Quiet, smooth, and a lovely drive. Even at 178K miles. Man did I miss it. We were going 60mph, and the fellow that hit us about 100mph. Good no one was hurt badly or killed. I thought for sure a new bumper would be in order as it is very stout. They were able to pull it out on a big frame straightening rack.

I got the spare tire carrier powder coated and replated the hardware with yellow zink. Looked great until my forest service road excursion today on Mt Hood. Braingears - 8/30/2020 3:17 PM Do you think the heavier duty bumper did more damage to the truck, or did it protect the truck from additional damage from the accident? I think without the steel bumper the rear corner would have been destroyed like the pick up truck that hit us. If it was not a G we may not have survived, or could have been critically injured. I did just replace the LED on the instrument panel so I can see what it says. I have a few rust spots over the years I have taken care of as well. Best addition was Frontrunner drawer system and rear seat covers (wish I could find good front seat covers). Trying to decide whether to keep or trade. Needs new headliner and some odds and ends.

Our heavy duty All Steel Rear Bumper is a two part sandwiched design, I addition to the original Mercedes bumper brackets, which are also designed to lessen an impart force to the vehicle, our sandwiched designed bumper will absorb some of the impact as well. I am happy to know, that Eric's repair shop was able to rework his nice bumper, and mad eit look new again.
