I am not talking about how it automatically locks when you drive off. My G500 will often automatically lock the car after it has been sitting for awhile with engine off. Know it is only a matter of time before keys are locked in it.

My only thought is to set your SmartKey and locks to factory settings, new battery and see if that gets things straightened out. If you don't have the manual I'll send you the instructions from my manual (2007 G 500).

He was incredibly annoyed by the automatic locks. We tried many things, we read all the possible manuals, and still, we couldn't find anything useful. The only way you can do that is by removing that damn mechanism. However, you won't be able to do it on your own. You'll have to call for the service of a locksmith. I contacted https://mylocallocksmithtx.com/grand-prairie/ , and they removed that locker. But, as soon as you remove that mechanism, sometimes the doors won't get locked even when you'll be in the car.

I have had it for 13 years but I know it is just a matter of time before I lock myself out. That said, with many a caution, any recommended hide a key places on G500?

Perhaps remove and hide the metal valet key.

Ere New user Date registered: Aug 2022 Location: Vehicle(s): Posts: 1 | RE: How to turn off automatic locks on 2003 G500 The owner's manual contains all the answers you are looking for. I can't recall the exact pages, but the answer wasn't at the beginning of the book for sure. There is an online version of the owner's manual https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalAssets/pdfmb/ownersmanual/2002_g... in case you lost the printed version. I want to warn you that the instructions in the book are complicated, and a few figure out how to turn off automatic locks all by themselves. Personally, locksmith se21 gave me a hand with this issue, and I highly recommend them to others. Edited by Ere 8/4/2022 7:32 AM
