OT: Oktoberfest

Once again I am flying over to Munich for Oktoberfest. This will be my third Oktoberfest. I will be in Munich for the opening weekend of Oktoberfest, then my girlfriend and I will be driving through Switzerland and Italy for two weeks.
If any of you are going to Oktoberfest, I would LOVE to meet-up and have a beer together!

Unfortunately I missed the Graz trip last year. It would have been great to meet with you guys and run on the test track!

I have been debating if I should assemble a G-Wagon shopping list while I am there. Whether I should look into some additional brake pad, or ship back more of the heavier stuff too.
Should I make a trip to the G-Wagon Service center located in Munich? or should I look for parts and accessories elsewhere?

What do you guys think?

Oktoberfest, is it at the end of September again. if it is I will happily see you there, and a visit to ORC is a must.

Chuck, you will have a great time there - anywhere you go! Did you get atleast your own pair of "Lederhosen" - after 4 visits you will become a "local" and need to wear a "Tracht"

The G-wagen center in Munich has a very nice display - a G-wagen chassis with all the trimmings! Now you can see all those fine parts up close, you submerge when "diving" into the rivers

I had no luck getting anything out of them besides a print out for my 91 300GE. They seemed to be geared for the new stuff only - but good luck to you.
Try to find the auto parts store "Stahlgruber" in Munich for good replacement parts and the expedition outfitter "Daerr" who might have a longer snorkel for the G320 If you need, I can come up with the addresses or tel#.
Are you taking your Garmin GPS? Don't know if I can create a map from my latest City Navigator Europe V8 and email it to you.

Hope you meet all the German G-guys but if not - anybody " auf der Wies'n" would love to have a beer with your!

Karl

I will be in Munich from September 15th - 18th. From there, I will be renting a car and heading for Switzerland and Italy.

I will probably be taking my laptop with GPS for street maps. I have had the worst luck with other people reading a map and giving me directions while I am driving. So this time, I will give the "navigator" a big arrow to show where we are and where we are going.

I forgot all about the snorkel idea while I am there. I was going to attempt to find Pagid Pads for my G-Wagon.

I almost bought a pair of "Lederhosen" while I was there last year. This year I might actually do it!

Tempting......very tempting. I went last year right before the Graz trip. It is a lot of fun. Who knows - if the current project I'm on gets any worse I'll give my notice and try and make it. Try to call Flo. We tried to get together but our schedules didn't jive.

Perhaps we can all get a table or something together at one of the Oktoberfest Tents?

I'm not flying to Germany to hang out with Americans or talk about Gs. I can do that here. I'll be focusing on the young ladies!

Ask for 10% off your list, and use a "tax-free for tourists" form. They should agree, and if they don't another dealer in Munich will. This will shave 26% off the price you'd otherwise pay.

Thanks for the heads up. That should almost allow me to break even with the Exchange Rates.
