part number help

I am still around - just too much other exciting work.

Restoring my 280GE is on my list. Bought already tons of cool parts on German ebay (ie.brand new drive shaft for only $250!!).

Can't find the part number for the padding of the dash (dark grey) - can please somebody help?

Harald

Good to see you around from time to time. and nice to know you're keeping the 280. you're keeping the g500 too yeah? i'm jealous of your garage! Anyway, i sent you a PM about borrowing some old wheel bearing races if they're applicable to my front bearing job?

Re: part number help

thanks Steve, now, how will my data card (I have it) tell me whether I have dark grey indeed?

Also, since I have the EPC, where would I find that dash cover?

Re: part number help

Hi Harald
I have not figured out the interior color codes, though it may be on the Japanese site that lists all of the option codes. I do not have an EPC at home, but I believe it was in the SA index under the 1st covering and linings. I used my VIN. I will check the location tomorrow.

Harald,

If you have the datacard, you should see the paint code that was original to your car (arrowed in the attachment)

Cheers

Re: part number help

Jesus,

yup, I found the color code on my data card - but that relates only to the outside paint
I was looking for a code that indicates the interior.

Jesus,

I was looking for a code that indicates the interior.

Then you must have one of these codes in your data card:

V01 " INTERIOR TRIM, SPECIFIC COUNTRIES"
V02 INTERIOR TRIM WITH CASES
V03 INTERIOR TRIM IN STANDARD COLOR
V04 " ADDITIONAL PARTS, UPGRADED INTERIOR TRIM"
V05 from 1978 " INTERIOR TRIM, UPGRADED VERSION"
V15 from 1978 " INTERIOR TRIM, IN CREAM BEIGE"
V16 INTERIOR TRIM IN OLIVE-GREEN
V17 INTERIOR TRIM IN GREY
V18 from 1978 INTERIOR TRIM IN BLACK
V19 from 1978 INTERIOR TRIM IN BROWN
V22 " INTERIOR TRIM, UPGRADED VERSION"
V23 " INTERIOR TRIM, UPGRADED VERSION"
V24 from 1978 INTERIOR TRIM IN THE REAR
V29 from 1978 INTERIOR TRIM IN GREY

Mine for example bears the code V18 "Interior in Black"

Cheers

Re: part number help

Where do you get the info on the Special version codes especially related to the interior trim. I'm trying to find the seat cover material for my early G.

The part number for the seat cover will be a combination of the part number as shown in the EPC and the colour code as listed in my previous post. You can find all Mercedes codes here:

http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~mtor/mbvdc.html

Paint code

For those of you interested, for some reason in the G series there are four digits in the paint code. The MB paint codes are three digits and are the last three numbers. So 9192 would be 192. The four digit code will confuse most paint shops.
