RE: another G-wagen ... a 1984 280GE LWB

I got interested in the tropical roof about 18 months ago and got a quote from Europa. It seems like it was somewhere around $2200 with all the installation parts included. You have to put holes in your original roof to install it, and of course you will cover over a sunroof if you have one. The parts man at Europa told me that his correspondent for the parts info in Germany reported that there was a guy in the old country that had the safari roof specially fabricated to accomodate the sunroof on his G500. The work was excellent and the result very satisfying to the customer. I can find the parts numbers and illustrations on my computer file at work if anyone is interested. I imagine it's on the EPC too. I'm not too interested in the option for my G500 because of the sunroof complication, but if I had, or rather, 'when' I get my 460 truck I would like to get the safari roof to reflect some of that Arizona sun.

Re: another G-wagen ... a 1984 280GE LWB

hey thanks a lot sean. is this swb or lwb?

anybody with firsthand before & after experience with one of these in hot hot hot weather?

back in the 90's all the taxis here in hkg had similar tropical roofs, but all the newer taxis do not. makes one wonder if there is really much of a difference.

sorry for jackin' your thread mart.

Congrats, Martin!

You mentioned an auxiliary fuel tank in your earlier post about the addition to your fleet...where did they put the auxi tank?
