Rear brake conversion

Has anyone got photographs and guide for converting rear drums to discs on a 460 series?

RE: Rear brake conversion

I don't have any photos only experience, I had a 460 converted once, the system used was from the Sprinter van, I was more than a little dissapointed.

Re: Rear brake conversion

I think the way to do it is to get a complete axle from a 463 that is being dismantled. It will probably need the master cylinder from that vehicle as well. Then there is the matching gear ratio issue...

RE: Rear brake conversion

Guys,

We have learned about a retrofit rear disc kit that is available out of Eastern Europe and we are awaiting details. This kit has been tested in the Berlin-Breslau, so it seems to be up to the G's high standards. We'll revert with more info when we have it.

Thanks,

RE: Rear brake conversion

Rear Disk Brake kit available from ORC for the years for both W460 and W463.
On a W463 (as old 300GE or G320 G36) you are loosing your ABS system with this installation .
No noticeable improvements on a braking power at all.
Expensive installation of rear disc brakes make a sense in only one situation : you use your G as a sport car in trophy or rally , especially on mug there rear drum brakes stop working after first mile.
Rear brake dick system is a simple part kit from W463 rear brake parts plus custom machined adaptors to mount all these parts on standard rear drum axel.
