RE: I am getting a NEW TOY

It has been awhile since I had a diesel, (My mechanic bought my 1987 300sdl with 266,000 now has 347,000 w. barely any issues since new), but if my memory serves me, wasn't the 350 the engine in the early 90's that was blowing up and Benz would warrant the 1st one and not the next because time till failure was so short?

Not to stomp on your parade, but if that is the case you might want to look at a different engine, such as the 300?

Maybe I am talking out of ignorance , and I default to my elders on this site, just something is ringing in the back of my memory on the 350 series.

Anyway truck does look great, color is truly a cool color.

One of these days I will pop over the bridge and check out the diesel! Make it a veggie burner!!!!

Re: I am getting a NEW TOY

I have talked with both MB and the people doing the rebuild.
The new fix that they came out with (head, con rods and a few other things) bring it up to par with the 300.
Adsit (the rebuilders) give a 12 month unlimited miles warranty and after doing over a few hundred have only had a very few go bad and they were the earlier rebuilds.
They say that the worst thing to do is over heat the motor that will cause it to fail, head warping. I would think I am safe, I hope <:-0 Most lasted into the 100K mile mark before failing, people do not look at that.
So we will see
