Willt his new emission standard and vehicles with diesel engines that comply now here, will your choice of engine be influenced in the future and how will the required additive be supplied. ?

For us in the dark North Americans, you're going to have to explain what this standard entails. We obviously can't respond with any intelligence without knowing what it is.

(Yes, I know, BlueTec is one solution.)

The G320CDI currently meets the EU4 emissions standard and has been fitted with a particle filter.

Add blue is the additive currently recomended by DB and VOLVO. Fenelaar has published two web sites which lay out the detail of the legislation that manufacturers have to comply to., but as compliance seems to rely on having a seperate chamber of additive that is auto added to fuel I can't see how it will succeed.

From what I understand, the car/vehicle will not start if the Urea (AddBlue) tank is empty. It will continue to run, however, if the the Urea tank runs dry while driving.

Keep a refill bottle as a spare, if you're going off road! Lots of places in the US where TeleAid does not work; and you might have a long walk, if you stop somewhere when it's empty..

We are a bit behind the times down here in New Zealand. Crazy when it's seen as such a 'green' country. We have very low levels of polution etc but you'd think the government would be putting these laws in place to ensure the country stays green.

Urea is a somponent in urine. How would taking a leak directly inty the tank?
