Dampness under both front floor mats

I noticed today that the carpet in both front footwells is damp. I am airing it out as we speak. This happened before and it was the condensation line and only the passengers footwell was damp. Now it's both. I'm now wondering about the wiper seals.

Can anyone point me to the A/C condensation line? I want to check it first before I move to the wiper seals.

Thanks!

Danny

Did you check the drain from the heater air intake, they can clog and fill with water.
Off subject, but do you still have tours to the caves on look out mountain?

Hi, I noticed my wiper arm was loose. Took off the wiper, checked the net and it was very loose. I know water would have been able to get in around the nut & seal. Tightened it up seems OK now. I've read where other guys were having the same problem.

Actually we still do have cave tours. Ruby Falls is the most visited. Rock City and Ruby Falls have always been popular.

Lookout Mountain is a popular tourist destination as well as a very nice place to live.

I had the same problem. Reseat the Door/window frame seal all the way around. Just push it all back in to place. It has probably slipped out of place at the top forward corner. If this doesn't make sense I snap a picture and post it. After I did that I've had zero water. Now when I'm detailing the inside of the truck I reseat it all.

Spent (wasted) a lot of time checking:

- the sunroof seal and drain (all okay),
- for leaks from the wiper bushings (okay)
- A/C condesant drain (okay)

Good luck.

The arrows point at the door seal AND point in the direction that the seal should be pushed. The seals are all friction fit and if any are unseated, even slightly, you will know it.

Good luck!

RE: Dampness under both front floor mats

Thanks for the photos. I will check those on both sides.

I slid under the G to see if I could locate the condensation tube and had no luck. Interestingly, the last time the condensation tube was clogged only the passenger footwell filled up with water. The driver's side was dry. This time it's both side which makes me wonder if it's the wiper seals or door seals.

Thaks for all the help! I will keep looking.

Thanks JR. Another one to add to my list!

RE: Dampness under both front floor mats

I took my G to the mechanic to check the condensation lines. I had crawled under and tired to find them myself, but really didn't know what I was looking for. My mechanic put it up on the lift and showed me where they were. There are two condensation lines on either side of the transmission. They look like a 1/2" to 3/4" tube that's been crimped shut. It's flexible to let the water out, but stays shut to keep out the dirt. I never would have thought these were the tubes just by looking at them.

My mechanic advised against using a coat hanger to clear the lines. Instead he used some compressed air.

If I can get a decent shot of them, I will post a photo or two.

Having said all that, I did check my door seals and they both needed to be reset a little. I have not looked into the wiper seals, but will do that next.

For what it's worth, you really gain an appreciation of how well thought out the underneath of a G is. My old FJ62 Landcruiser had two catalytic converters exposed and some other exhaust part hanging out here and there. I also seem to recall part of the transfer case and drive shaft were exposed. The G is extremely organized and tidy underneath compared to most SUV's.
