Is that truck even still in the market? Those posts you linked are from 2005. As to illegally here or not, you can always call the US DOT in Washington with the VIN; and they'll tell you the import status of the truck. See the section on clubgwagen.com which talks about importation for more information.

There is only one way to know the legaility for sure; and that is to call the US DOT in Washington with the VIN. They can tell you on the phone.

The question is... how was the rust repaired by this person. If the rust was repaired correctly with metal by someone who had sheet metal experience, then I wouldn't be too worried about it. If you are not sure how it was repaired, find a body shop that will look at it... they will be able to tell very easily if the body work was done properly or not. The biggest concern is the legality of it... and this may not be of huge concern if you can find an insurance Co. that will insure it and if you plan to keep it for a while before you sell it (in 2008 it will be 25 years old, and once it hits that mark the truck is no longer required to meet any real saftey standards because it is concidered antique). To be safe, you really should check and see if it is legal, and as DUTCH said, call the DOT as listed on clubgwagen.com. Cheers, Ben
